Salento

Salento is perhaps the most important town for tourism in Quindío, for three main reasons. First, the beautiful, well-preserved architecture left by the Antioquian colonization; second, the imposing Cocora Valley, one of the most beautiful landscapes in Colombia; and third, a contagious atmosphere of peace and well-being that you feel the moment you arrive.

To get there, take the road that connects Armenia and Pereira and turn right at kilometer 17. Salento appears at the end of a winding road that runs through the Quindío River valley and passes the typical roadside inns of the Boquía district. Known as the father of Quindío’s towns, it was the first to be founded by Antioquian settlers in the mid-19th century.
