Pereira's Flora and Fauna Theme Park was born in the late nineties as a dream of the people of Pereira. Aware of the space and location limits of the old Matecaña Zoo, and of how important that attraction was for the region, city leaders, local authorities and national government representatives proposed a Biopark that would improve the animals' quality of life and help energize the region's tourism.
